Open Question: Is eligibility for college financial aid unfair?
My problem with the system is the financial aid based on parents income for most students. First, some students whose parents do well financially dont see a dime from them for college, but the student has to use their parents income to determine how much grant/scholarship money they get. Second, students with divorced parents get an advantage b/c they always claim that they are living with the parent with the lowest income. EX. Mom makes 20,000 a year, dad makes 80,000 a year, they’re married and kid gets no financial aid. Same incomes, but parents divorced, kid goes to college for next to n thing. Your thoughts?
