Open Question: Why do we live in routines? Does this lead to depression?

Is their something wrong with our culture in our routines that makes so many people upset with their lives?

I was forced to do community service in a hospital in HS. I had to shred a room full of old patient documents. And every single one of them has the world depression listed.

When you are born you go to school. Once you graduate it was, “Yes, I’m free and I can’t get the hell away from these people.” Then you move on to junior hs, then hs, and maybe college.

You suppose to get a job and pay off your college debt. Raise the ideal “Nuclear Family” get old retire, and die.

This i how I see live. Granted, I DO want a family one day but I’ve always been depressed since 7th grade and I wonder…. why are we living through this routine? I can’t stand the idea of a routine. I always wanted out once I realize public school is a routine.

Some people go with the flow they are not happy, does that mean they are in apathy? Why do we do things that makes us miserable?
Stability is good but doesn’t it feel like “oh it’s another day like before.” I’m not depressed depressed, but I find things to get boring easily. I usually make art and write.

I think the US has a culture, it’s pretty much how we live as a whole isn’t it? I think our culture can be best describe as Mass Media.

When I think of culture I usually think of religion, but culture and religion are not the same thing. You practice your religion but everyone has their own beliefs. I think how we interact is our culture.
