Open Question: How to answer the dreaded What do you do question when you´re not too proud of what you do?
I hate meeting new people and having them ask “What do you do? What does your husband do?”
The truth is, my husband got laid off a few months ago and hasn’t been able to get back in the game. He’s washing dishes some nights at a restaurant.
I just finished college a short while ago, so I’m still job hunting.
I hate having to explain our life to people we meet casually. Especially other parents at our daughter’s snooty school (she was lucky to get a grant to a private school).
What’s a tactful way to answer this rude question without getting defensive about it, or give too many details to p ople who I’ve just met?
